There's still time for Angello!

Don't forget, Steve Angello will be performing at Club Fur @ Glow tonight. Don't miss it!

I don't care what DJ Mag says, Deadmau5 is the best.

Every year DJ Mag comes up with a list of the top 100 DJs in the world. For the fourth year in a row, the number one spot went to Armin van Buren. The list comes out around October every year, and it usually reflects who the top DJs fairly accurately. People are going to have their own preferences, but the list gives a very good indication of who's had the best year etc.
This is not disputing van Buren's talent in any way, but I believe Deadmau5 is the best DJ out there right now. I had the privilege to see him perform in NYC at Roseland Ballroom before Halloween last year, and it was one of the most amazing live performances I ever experienced. I  unfortunately missed his show at the 9:30 Club here in D.C., the one during which he passed out and was later hospitalized for exhaustion. However, I do hope he comes back to D.C. soon, either at the 9:30 Club or at Club Glow. Actually, any place will do, I just hope he comes back. His performances are extremely entertaining from a visual perspective, there's a lot of crowd interaction, which is difficult for a DJ wearing a giant Mau5 Head, and obviously his music is amazing. Well, I think so.
Anyway, this post came out after I saw a video of his performance at Ultra Music Festival this past weekend in Miami. The track is "Sofi Needs a Ladder" off his latest album 4x4=12, which is available on iTunes. In case you were wondering, the drummer is Tommy Lee and Sofi is his (Tommy Lee's) girlfriend. Come on, how cool is that? Enjoy.

Save the World Tonight-NEW Swedish House Mafia

I truly hope Steve Angello will play the newest Swedish House Mafia track, Save the World Tonight, when he comes to Club Fur this Thursday. You can find live versions of the track at a number of different venues. The official date for the release of the single is not known yet, however Steve Angello himself confirmed this will be the Swedish House Mafia's newest single at the Future Music Festival in Melbourne Australia (source http://housemusicparty.info).
Below you can see a live performance at the Masquerade Hotel in Miami, FL.

Future of DJ consoles?

I know this does not really tie into the D.C. club scene. I just stumbled across this video and thought it would be an interesting take for all my followers interested in the future of DJs. This futuristic console uses cubes to create tracks. The track that you see below is actually really catchy.
Do I personally think this will be the future of DJs? No. DJs will use their beloved consoles for years to come, at least in my opinion. This is, however, a pretty cool little instrument, and if any DJ comes to D.C. using one of these Reactables, I'll be sure to let you all know. For now, enjoy the video and make sure to check back in soon for more news regarding Tiesto, Dada Life and other DJs on their way to D.C.!

Dada Life and Tiesto coming to DC soon!

Be on the lookout for info about Dada Life and Tiesto coming to DC next week. These are some of the most popular DJs out there right now and they are coming to DC to liven up your nightlife! Tickets are already on sale and you can purchase them trough a number of websites!

A little taste of Steve Angello

STEVE ANGELLO COMES TO D.C.!

As you might have figured out by the title above, I am extremely excited about Steve Angello coming to the District. Steve Angello is one of the three DJs that form the Swedish House Mafia (the others being Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso), and he is finally coming back to a D.C. club.
The Swedish House Mafia entered the world of electronic music only last year and already established themselves as one of the best. Their single, One, with which I welcomed you to my blog, was arguably the biggest song of last year and is still extremely popular to date. The song was officially released by the Swedish House Mafia on Beatport in late May 2010.
Since then, the group has seen incredible success, countless remixes to their music, and a very busy schedule. The group was in Miami this past weekend for a performance at The Masquerade Hotel. Angello is currently on his Size Matters tour iwth AN21 and Max Vangeli. This Thursday, March 31st, Steve Angello and his Size Matters tour will come here in D.C. for a performance at Club Fur.
I highly recommend you go see him, the tickets are only $20 and the event is 18+. Doors open at 10PM.

A Little Taste of ATB

ATB-You're not alone

ATB at Club Fur This Saturday March 26th!

AndrĂ© Tanneberger, also known as ATB, is a German DJ, producer of Trance music and considered one of the best in the world. According to the latest DJ Magazine, ATB is now ranked #11 in the world.
After working with the group Sequential One from 1992 to 2003, ATB came to fame in 1999 with the track "9PM (Till I Come)," his first track as a solo artist. The track's guitar sound became his trademark through the years.
One of his most famous tracks is "You're Not Alone," which came out in 1996 and is to this day is still played by a lot of DJs throughout the world.
Club Fur is located at 33 Patterson St NE, close to the New York Ave-Florida Ave-Galladet U Metro station. Tickets start at $20, 18+, doors open at 10PM.

A Little Taste of Michael Woods

Deadmau5-Strobe (Michael Woods Remix)

Michael Woods at Club Lima Thursday March 24th

Michael Woods is a British DJ from London, UK. While Woods is a DJ, he is best known as a remixer, adding his unique sound to already established tracks. Amongst his most famous remixes is his take on Deadmau5' Strobe, which gives a different take on the popular track while maintaining the nature of it. Woods is also the head of his own music label, Diffused Fusion, which is the main agent behind his remixes.
Perhaps the best way to describe Woods' music comes from the Club Glow website: "Uplifting like Avicii and Axwell, bouncy with a little tech like Mark Knight, pushing forward like Deadmau5; Michael Woods has managed to distinguish his sound from all others… he has Diffused."
Club Lima is located at 1401 K St NW, tickets start at $20, 18+, doors open at 10PM.
